Big Names, Small Canvas Exhibition and Auction

This is the third Big Names - Small Canvas exhibition The Riverton Arts Centre has held. The first exhibition held in April 2005 was an outstanding success. The Arts Centre overflowed with over 300 people attending; selling 87 works and a gross sales total of just under $ 44,000. The success of the event was due to wide variety and quality of work going under the hammer. Also approximately 2000 people visited the Arts Centre during the exhibition.

This is a great opportunity for artists to reach a new audience and contribute to a growing art centre. We express gratitude that artists have extended themselves to contribute to a small quality art centre at the southern end of New Zealand!

The Riverton Arts Centre always strives to provide new and interesting exhibitions to our art buying audience and the participating artists. For this event we have invited a selected group of 150 artists to complete a supplied, 250 x 250 mm blocked canvas; themed ‘Contemporary Riverton/NZ’. The canvases will be sold at a gala auction event at the Riverton Arts Centre on Sunday 30 May 2010.

As this is a major fundraising event for the Riverton Arts Centre we ask Artists to donate either 50% or 100% of their sale proceeds and set a price reserve if they choose to.
